I Lost The Game

Ivan

HE GOT AWAY!!!!!

First, I took the dogs and Ivan, we were gaining on him….just as the dogs caught the scent we fell upon his trick that I had learned in Uganda… i don’t feel like details..so bottom line…Ivan is dead

The dogs and I continued..We fallowed him through a gap that led to the sea.. I thought I finally had him pinned

That Crazy American jumped off the cliff into the sea!!!!!

I just stopped and realized I just lost…he didn’t really beat me… I just lost…as I peered out across the sea I could see my house…I had a lonely walk back…

As I ate dinner I couldn’t help thinking about Ivan and how it was my fault he is dead… How am I going to replace him? I also thought about the game I just lost… maybe that Bible verse was right…I don’t know???

I’ll sleep on it…

A New Thought

Unfortunately he won the first night…I was quite impressed with the winding trails..it took me a while to get through them…I thought I finally found him pinned up in a tree but I was wrong. Mr. Rainsford had even gone to the trouble of making a Maylay man-catcher that struck me on the shoulder..it’s not bad, but it still hurts…

Another man wounding me has sent me reminiscing back in the time of my childhood… every Sunday my grandmother would always take me to church… I don’t remember much about it…but I faintly remember hearing about the first murder with Cain and Abel…How did that story go exactly?… and the 10 commandments… wasn’t one of those about that?… OH!..I do remember hearing a Bible verse about murder it was

Matthew 5:21 “You heard that it was said  to those of old, ‘You shall not murder’ and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgement.”

…Is what I’m doing right?

Oh well…. my shoulder is all patched up now so I better be on my way…

I Found My New Game

 The hunt last night was disappointing. The guys made a path straighter than an arrow. It was like killing a wounded animal. He really even didn’t put up a fight of any kind.

During lunch I had the most peculiaridea…. since the sailiors do not give me a challenge any more… I think.. Sanger Rainsford a fellow world class hunter should be my new game… Of course he opposed the idea until… I told him what Ivan’s hobby was… torturing people…I gave him khaki hunting clothes, a haversack of food, a knife, and a revolver…I had to warn him about Death Swamp… I don’t want to lose another one of my best dogs like I lost Lazarus..fallowed a guy into the quicksand

I just sent Rainsford off so he can get a head start…then I will…. let’s just hope he can survive the first night and gives me a challenge…

Dinner Reflections

My Cape Buffalo

The dinner Ivan made was wonderful!! I think Mr. Rainsford was very impressed with all of my wonderful heads of various animals…He particularly liked the Cape Buffalo…that animal was a monster to bring down…it charged and fractured by skull and put me out of hunting for 6 months.. I can still picture the beast charging at me…It felt like I was watching/in a horror movie… I was scared to death but i couldn’t go anywhere because it was so exciting…

I told him the story of how I was 6 years old when I got my first gun and killed my father’s prize turkeys. I’ll never for get how it felt to pull the trigger for the first time and watching that turkey fall…

I mentioned to him how I hunt humans because of my boredom. I asked him to hunt with me tonight… He declined because he was too tired from his swim from his ship to the island…

Well I have a hunt waiting for me … I hope this guy can give me a challenge!!

An Unlikely Visitor

This evening has been unusual. I have the most strangest visitor, Sanger Rainsford. I knew who he was right when I heard his name. He had written a book a few years back about hunting snow leapards in Tibet.

Mr. Rainsford rminded me of Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones. Average size man with dark hair. Although he had no kind of weapon with him…. kind of strange considering he is a hunter….a world class hunter.

I think he was very interested in Ivan… or maybe Ivan scared him.

Oh here he comes…maybe I can get him to hunt with me tonight after we eat dinner… Ivan made borsch.
